UPDATE:  Go here for information about the 2013 National Beef Recall.

Here’s a recall that you all might want to know about. National Beef Packing Co. of Dodge City Kansas has recalled thousands of pounds of ground beef & ground chuck product to to possible E-Coli contamination.

NOTE: Updated on 8/15 am to include Kroger stores.

Here’s more information from the USDA which doesn’t include store names, but I did a little searching & found some articles that might help you determine if you have the contaminated meat.

Walmart/Sam’s Beef Recall Information

Publix Beef Recall Information

Winn Dixie Beef Recall Information

Kroger Southeast Beef Recall Information

There may have been other store affected, but these were the ones I could find at this time.  I will keep you guys posted if I find anymore that have been added.

Kudos to your for tracking this info. I’ve seen no other in-depth report of this as you’ve provided. I am in the affected area and purchase ALL of my ground meat (and the ground/pork mix)at Publix. Time to hit the deep freezer downstairs and check those dates and UPC’s.

My admiration for your superbly run website grows ….

    Thank you!

Was publix involved in the recent ground turkey recall as well?

  5. Hey Alison, From what I’m reading I don’t think Publix was involved in that one. Here’s a list by state for the Turkey recall: http://www.cargill.com/turkey-recall/

Thanks so much for posting this! Looks like I will be throwing away all of my beef today. :-( Well, this is just another step in the right direction to no longer eat red meat and to only eat grass fed meat no matter how expensive.
